Click below for photos from fieldwork, including lots of bird banding photos. I have been mist netting and handling birds for approximately 12 years, and all mist-netting was conducted with bird safety as a top priority. When mist netting, all birds are released as soon as they have been carefully banded and other data has been collected (e.g. weight, age, sex, etc.). Mist netting provides valuable scientific information on bird populations, including movements, longevity, health, etc. All birds are handled with proper permitting.
